Cinematic Fashion: That 70′s Show |

I haven’t written about any television series yet, but I’m excited that my first post of such is on the fabulous “That 70’s Show”, which ran from 1998-2006. Today reruns air all the time on various channels.

Mila Kunis played Jackie Burkhart, who has the most amazing 70’s wardrobe you could ask for, as well as the character flaws of being spoiled and vain. This is rather fitting, because she always gets her father or various boyfriends to buy her new clothing. Underneath, even if you have to dig a little, she really is caring towards her friends and even if she isn’t the most admirable all the time you can’t deny that you don’t want to raid her closet!

Jackie almost always wears wedges or heels on the show, because she is on the shorter side and is surrounded by the tallness of the guys of in gang (especially Kelso), and even of her female friend, the towering Donna.

She always outfits herself in florals, stripes, and other bold 70’s style prints, wanting to stand out, show off and be fashionable. She isn’t afraid of bold color or making statements in daring items like jumpsuits, (which were definitely popular in the 70’s).

When channeling your inner 70’s chic, don’t be afraid to take a chance with your look and try on an outlandish print that you would have otherwise shied away from. Mix unusual pieces together, such as two prints in the same look. If you’re feeling daring like Jackie, jumpsuits and rompers will serve you well. Or, raid your mom’s closet for some vintage wide-collared dresses, or shirts you can pair with bell bottoms.

Since wedges are all back in style these days, pick up some printed psychedelic-looking ones or a pair in a bold color. I love wedges because they are easy to walk in and totally appropriate for both formal and casual events. Finally, accessorize with neck scarves, hoop earrings and structured bags. Groovy!
