Sondre Lerche perfectly captures the cool and casual “boy next door” style. That is, if the boy next door was a Norwegian indie-pop star. Lerche always looks comfortable and maintains a fairly simple wardrobe but still manages to look put together, even at his scruffiest. Although I’m fairly certain his boyish good looks and charismatic musical charm only add to this effect.
At the base of almost every Lerche outfit is a v-neck t-shirt. Because they can be worn under most layers but can also function as the outer layer, v-necks are a great addition to any man’s wardrobe. Choose a basic neutral so you’ll have the most options; like white, black, or grey.
For bottoms, wear skinny jeans and try adding a cuff at the bottom. When deciding on the wash, think opposite ends of the spectrum, either a super dark wash or a very faded wash with a vintage feel.
If it’s too cool to wear the v-neck by itself, add layers. For a lightweight layer, add a button down that is either faded denim or plaid flannel. For a heavier weight layer, add either a Fair Isle cardigan or Norwegian knit sweater. With either outer layer shirt option, you might consider adding a triangular printed scarf or a simple cable-knit scarf.
Keep it casual when picking out your shoes. Go for a white pair of high-tops or a classic suede Puma basketball shoe.
