Summer is just sooo delicious. I love actually having time for myself; sprawling out on the couch, sipping ice tea, and catching up on my favorite menswear blogs while listening to some good soul. This summer’s soul singer of choice? I’m all over Aloe Blacc. Everything about him is so smooth. His style and music fit seamlessly in with all of the genre’s greatest performers.

So to take style inspiration from this week’s feature, Aloe Blacc, think in terms of simple classic layers.

Start off with a tweed trouser or a slim-fit dark wash denim jean. If you opt for the jeans, add a flat leather belt. On top, wear a solid colored button down. Over the button down, layer a vest. If you chose tweed trousers try a sleeveless cardigan and if jeans, try a more traditional style waistcoat.

For either the tweed or denim option, style with a pair of dapper Oxfords. If you feel Oxfords are too formal for the look you’re going for, wear sneakers. You could even wear sneakers designed by the man himself, in partnership with Adidas.

Because this look is so refined and simple, you’re going to be getting the majority of your personality in this look through your accessories. For a hat, find a flat cap with an interesting design or a straw trilby (a type of fedora). As a final touch, add a pair of cool shades; either shield or aviator in style.
