Cinematic Fashion: Confessions of a Shopaholic
The 2009 chick flick “Confessions of a Shopaholic” is one of my favorites in the category. The feel good film features Ilsa Fisher as literary heroine Rebecca Bloomwood, straight from the beloved Sophie Kinsella novels. Ilsa pulls off the role of the spunky, charming fashionista and journalist Rebecca with ease as the part is perfect for her.
The costuming along with styling in the film are not surprisingly credited to Sex and the City designer Patricia Field. Field gives Rebecca a wardrobe to die for, including the “Gucci boots!” she won in a girl fight at a sample sale, and a green scarf that made her famous as “the girl in the green scarf” finance columnist.
She always has a bold aesthetic and mixes colors in unusual ways quite frequently, but she still looks fantastic every time. Rebecca isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd or be in horrible debt as long as it means she is fashionably dressed. She has the mindset of a true fashionista!
To get Rebecca’s look you don’t want to necessarily pile on every colorful item in your closet (or go into debt!), but you do want to pair colors and items together than you otherwise wouldn’t have considered. Wear blue, purple and orange together, or a yellow jacket over a pink dress.
And that leads me to how important the color pink is to Rebecca. It’s a color that she is frequently seen in throughout the film, in all different shades, including two different pink tones being paired together.
Rebecca loves to accessorize, so add a bold scarf, gloves and shoes. These items are another great way to add in more unexpected pops of color that will add drama to your ensemble.

Using Rebecca Bloomwood as inspiration is all about having fun and not being afraid to express yourself in the most outlandish, colorful ways!
